OTTAWA (AFP) – The Canadian government said Monday it is seeking "more information" about a Canadian national who is suspected of industrial espionage on behalf of the United States and has been prevented from leaving Libya.
"We're aware that a Canadian citizen is presently in Tripoli, Libya and is not in a position to leave the country," Melissa Lantsman, a spokeswoman for Canada's foreign affairs department, told AFP in an email.
"The Canadian mission in Tripoli is working with local officials in order to get more information, and is offering him consular services," she added.
